On the way to drop something off locally, I visited a small nature walk to do some wildflower photography, I also did a video which you can watch below.
This little pocket of nature is somewhere I drive past a lot, as on the way to visit my daughter and grandson. The car park appeared about 18 montyhjs ago and I thought that it was a car park to visit Ryder Hayes Mere nature reserve which has a lake and I visited here a year or so ago for sunrise photo shoot, you can see the video HERE , as this is just behind. Though I forgot the Wyrley and Essington canal and house are between this.
The car park only has spaces for 6 cars and looks onto the canal, and there are two paths leading either side, these are very short paths that lead again onto views of th canal as well as benches and table , This would be a nice place to just sit and relax for lunch etc, as this is just of a main road from Brownhills to Pelsall.
Well onto the reason I visited, as I was drawn to here driving past because of the abundance of wildflowers. Now I don’t know the names of all the wildflowers that were there , but was a lot of daisies, thistle, some purple flowers etc. So me with camera in hand started getting some photos. I had brought bout my trusty Panasonic G80 (G85) I was mainly using the 12-60mm lens, trying different settings though to make things easier as was a bit breezy that day had the camera set to auto.
There was a lot of insects and bees, flies etc on the flowers, so at one point just waited to seed what I could get, see the photos below. I did try getting some more close up shots , I don’t own a dedicated macro lens but I do own some extension rings and a YI 42.5 lens that has a micro function, I did try this one one of the yellow flower think it’s a corn marigold as there was this pearlescent green insect. Unforutanly because of the breeze didn’t get a good shot, ironically got a better video clip of it.
I want both sides, but because of my spinal problem ahd to have a break, thats where my little camper comes in great for just having a rest with a nice cup of coffee.
I spent in total around about 1.5hrs there, was just nice to relax and take photos, which due to my health issues I haven’t done recently, so this picked my mood up. The quality of the photos are just OK, but that doesn’t really matter, what matters is getting out into nature and just enjoying it. I have talked before about using photography to help deal with depression you can read about this and see the video HERE
Like I have said before these little pockets of nature are everywhere you just have to know where to find them, well anyway hope you enjoy the video and the photos as much as I enjoyed this calming break.
