In my latest video I talk about how getting out in nature and taking my camera and getting maybe some good or even bad photos, Helps with my mental health.
The idea of this video was from a pilot scheme between wex photography and the National Academy of Social Prescribing (NASP), that allows people with mental health problems getting photography master class and even equipment through prescription. As this is a pilot scheme this is only available in 3 main locations London, Bristol and greater manchester. The reason for this scheme is it is proven that getting out in nature helps with your mental health and also then have something creative to do at the same time like photography helps even more, which is why this is a great scheme and I hope this becomes available in more parts of the country.
Personally I do suffer from my mental health , though mine is more caused by my phyisical health, I suffer from spinal problems and others, if you want to know more I did a video on this that can be seen below:
My spinal problems can mean that I am stuck basically in bed unable to move properly for sometimes upto 4- 5 days, but I love getting out in nature and doing photography and even producing the YouTube videos which is just a passion of mine, though quick plug, if you like these videos please SUBSCRIBE as really does help my videos get to a wider audience. But getting back to the subject the times I am stuck in the house, means I start to get down not being able to get out which then depression kicks in.
Which does mean no matter what the pain I am in I get out even to a local nature reserve, which I live in the midlands and I am right on the doorstep of Chasewater reservoir, which is where this video was filmed. I have a small campervan that I converted a Peugeot partner car into a very cheap campervan, again the process of building this is on my YouTube channel. This mean I can get out into a national park and then for Sunset / sunrise can be exactly where I want to be for that shoot without that much walking, though at the moment because of my Spain problem I can’t drive that far.
Well anyway instead of me writing all about this watch the video below which explains a lot more. As I went out to take all sorts of photography but the one thing I didn’t expect was to see the deer and stag so close up, which again if hadn’t of forced my self to get out I wouldn’t have seen this, which even if didnt have my camera I wouldn’t have matter as was great to see and boosted my mood even more.

[…] I spent in total around about 1.5hrs there, was just nice to relax and take photos, which due to my health issues I haven’t done recently, so this picked my mood up. The quality of the photos are just OK, but that doesn’t really matter, what matters is getting out into nature and just enjoying it. I have talked before about using photography to help deal with depression you can read about this and see the video HERE […]
