I went to see Fuzzbox doing a set at the Birmingham artsfest today, Birmingham artsfest was all different events around the city from Friday to Sunday, they were performing on the stage in Centenary Square, other bands on the day included The Twang, Elliot minor and loads of others and all this was free 🙂 The stage seemed to be sponsored by Kerrang radio. I have always been a fan of Fuzzbox I used to play the Big Bang Album all the time when I was younger and knowing they had reformed earlier this year wanted to see them live, but unfortunately I missed the concert in Birmingham earlier this year as they had done a tour of 13 dates around the country. So I just wanted to do a quick post to say something about the gig.
They performed for around 35mins they did some of there hits International Rescue, Self, Pink Sunshine, Rules & Regulations, Love Is The Slug. They were great to see live and they haven’t lost any of their talent, still great music some 20 plus years on. They were very upbeat and fun on stage, Vix performance was especially great as she still has a great voice.
The reformed line up are Vix, Maggie Dunne, Jo Dunne, with new members Sarah Firebrand & Karen Milne, this is without former member Tina O’Neill. They are now a group of five the original line up was the four of them. This didn’t change the sound of the music at all, just great to see them reformed.
They did a version of Pop Musik (which was released as a single earlier this year) and got the crowd involved changing the lyrics from London to Birmingham and as they were a brummie band this was great, the crowd were great, I really enjoyed the set as never had a chance to see them live when they originally did their hits as I was still in school (that makes me feel old now 🙂
They are releasing a 2010 version of pink sunshine later this year, I would have posted a quick video clip I had taken but not sure if this would infringe any copyright. I hope they do great with the new single etc as they are a great band & I definitely try to see them at a proper gig soon, and we’ve got a Fuzzbox and we’re gonna to use it 🙂
