Blithfield Reservoir STEALTH CAR CAMPING & Visit to Croxden Abbey

ByKevin Simon

Mar 1, 2023

At last the First trip out in the camper for 2023 as this is just a test run it was for one night only, stopping at Blithfield Reservoir in Staffordshire, I chose here as was only 30mins away from home, and also I drove through here lots of time and wanted to get some nice photography. though in the 1st video I visit the town of Uttoxeter and then onto Croxden abbey in view of getting sunset Photos here.

Here a bit of info about croxden abbey in 1176 the lord of the manor of the area of coxden endowed a site to a group of 12 Cistercian monks from Normandy, Bertram III de Verdun founded the abbey near Alton Staffordshire, then in 1179 they moved just a few miles to the village of croxden. I detail a bit more in the 1st video see below

The night was spent at the reservoir, though on this night the temperature was at freezing point and in my little micro camper I don’t have a full heating solution i.e. no diesel heater, I had brough an electric blanket to run of the leisure battery and this is the 1st time trying it. You can see how I got on in the video Below:

After a reasonable nights sleep at Blithfield reservoir, I started early by moving the car across the reservoir hoping for better views. For my photography I like landscape photos looking into the colours of the sunrise to start.

Unfortunately the conditions wasn’t the best, but I still got some nice photos, and due to my spinal problems I did suffer that morning I was going to be going somewhere after the sunrise photo shoot, but this didn’t happen due to a lot of pain, though all in all was a good morning and at least got to go out int the camper.

To see how the morning went and some of the photos watch the video below.
