As we are new to camping we just like to go away after work on Friday and come back on the sunday, so we don’t like to travel that far on the Friday as too much of a panic to set up on the evening, so we had decided on Banbury as was within an hour drive from us in Brownhills, West Midlands. We decide on places to visit as we are National Trust members we look for attractions we havnt been to and then look at places to camp nearby. So searched for a site around Banbury as there is two national trust properties close by and we found Barnstones Caravan Park, we rang them up the day before going to make sure of availability and we reserved a pitch, as this time camping we hadnt got the electric hookup equipment yet , we just needed a standard pitch, price was £12 Per night.
Upon arrival at reception the lady was very friendly and she got her husband to show us to our pitch, which we followed him on his mobility scooter. From the main entrance to the left you have pitches for caravans and in front to the right is both for caravans and tents. We had the choice of where to pitch we was more away from the back by the hedge row, in hind sight this wasn’t the best as the wind was fairly strong that weekend and if we would have been at the back wouldn’t had as much buffering of the tent.

Facilites on the site were fine you had a shower, Toilet and laundry block you had a few shower rooms, and the laundry room had 3 washing machines and even a freezer to freeze ice blocks etc. The Facilites were clean and tidy, so just what you need.

Just a 2min walk down into Great Bourton Village you have a nice little local pub, they don’t serve food but a nice pub with a beer garden outside. If you want food if you carry on about a mile down into Cropredy village You have a nice pub that did really nice food we had some lovely burgers and prices were reasonable, though it is a good 15 – 20mins walk. Though if you want to drive 10mins you are in Banbury centre so have a lot more choices.

If you are looking for a small friendly site, I would recommend Barnstones Caravan Park as was perfect for our needs with friendly staff and even our tent neigbours were really friendly and they camp here a lot.
