I love Christmas so putting out the decorations is something I look forward to well, kind of like anyone really. I used too go to town with lights and decorations outside, this stems from my late father that did the same as was great when the kid were younger, though now my daughter is in her early 20’s and has a little one, and also due to my spinal problems it is really too much work to do them. As sometimes it was four complete days to get everything out, build supports and wiring etc. Plus also now the electric cost and to be honest it’s more for others than myself as only see them if coming back in the dark.
The last few years I have been concentrating on the inside more, Over the years the type’s , colours etc have been chosen between myself & ex, Even now though it is only me and i have ended up with all the decorations for this year though would put them out as may change next year, but I still like the scheme.
Read on to how I set up the display this year or watch the video on my youtube channel below, and if you can give it a like and if you want to see more please subscribe to my small channel.
I have two display cabinets on the back wall which have a shelf between, though used to be 2 shelves. The one cabinet has these knock off large lego technic cars i’ve been building. The other has the large torch and clock lego minifigures that I collect, built mainly to take out with me when I go on my photography trips in my camper, to take photos of the minifigs in the places I visit.
So this year as only have one self have had to space things out the first type is those crystal type ornaments which the collect has grown over the years, so these were spread out on the shelf and one of the display cabinets, in the other cabinet I put these white fluffy animals again these aren’t my choose but still think they look good.
Some of the crystal things take batteries, but this is a pain when you have loads of them forest of all the amount of batteries you get through then having to pick each one up to turn on, then again later that evening to turn off. So last year these were all wired up to usb cables with just the aid of a resistor. This is great as well and some do make some noise so could switch these on and off independently from all the other lights.
The christmas tree I have is a silver one, that was brought from wilkos a failure a few years ago after christmas for just 50p. As the tree is 6ft but we all know that they don’t really have it on a little stand. The colour scheme is more pastel with blues and pinks.
In the one corner I have a little bookcase and on this has christmas cottages on. Also upstairs I have a christmas tree in my office and also the bedroom as due to my spinal problems I sometimes have to spend time upstairs, though this year after a slight move around in the living room I am trying to spend more time downstairs As I do have to get the enjoyment of all the christmas decorations.
I think it is not overboard but just enough to get you into the Christmas spirit. As I love photography, Christmas displays are great for taking photos of. If you want to know more click here for that article and video.
