For my work cleaning out fish ponds the one piece of equipment that I use is a pressure washer, the one that I have started to play up the tail end of last year a screwfix titan one and at the timer aldi had a cheap one in for around £50, which wasn’t that good for what i needed but it meant i had to take both on site in case the main one packed in , so could at least finish the job with the basic one.

I had the latest Lidl email and in their gardening middle aisle section starting on the 6th of march 2025 was for sale a Parkside pressure washer model number PHD 170 D2 at £119 and the spec looked reasonable especially for the price, so went first thing on the thurs to get one and thought would do a quick review of it, so read on or watch my youtube video below.
In the box you get the unit, 2 different nozzles, the trigger and extension, filter and inlet connector as well as a stop end hose pipe fitting, cleaning solution, the unit has a built in detergent tank and rotating brush attachment. For my use the brush and solution is something I never use.
The handle can extend from the unit by pressing a release button in the handle and extend out, to a good height as most other pressure washers I have used for my height at just under 6ft, were always a few inches too short. In the body of the unit next to the power switch is a nozzle cleaning pin, which is used if the nozzle gets blocked, now yes most pressure washers come with these, but having it in the unit means you always have it with you.

The power cable is 5m on the parkside pressure washer, which personally I would have liked to be a bit longer but not really a problem. The hose is 10m in length and can be rolled out and in by the integrated reel. This is something so simple don’t see why others don’t have this as we all know the problems trying to wind up a hose manually. Also the end of the hose in the unit is built into the reel, again something simple that makes it a lot easier to use.
The hose then attaches to the trigger like any other washer, the trigger does have a pressure bar scale on the handle so the more you push in the trigger that moves to show how much pressure is used, though not sure why you would need this.
You get two different ends: a variable flat nozzle and a turbo nozzle that rotates the water around in a circle. For my use of pressure washing the sides of a pond to get rid of blanket weed I do find depending on how tough this is sometimes one is better than the other. So it is good to have both types included depending on your use.
The power consumption is 2400w and the normal pressure is 115bar and the max is 170bar. Yes there are more powerful ones on the market but I have always found this to be the sweet spot for the need I have and trust me you should see some of the ponds I have to clean 藍. If you are looking for a pressure washer for most garden needs i.e slabs or even cleaning the car I wouldn’t go for anything really lower than this as yes lower bar pressure ones will work but will have to go over the same place more times so will take longer, so definitely worth the extra in money to save time.
As I wanted to get the review out straight away it meant that I had to test at home , well all of my front slabs / path I had done about two weeks ago, and my back block paving was done a few months ago. So on the block paving did a good job. I do have a little lean to have slabs as the base for all my work stuff, these were very dirty and either with the turbo or flat nozzle did a great job with ease, though I did find the turbo nozzle worked a bit better.

So for my quick test it worked great, but only time will tell, but I have a lot of parkside and aldi tools and they not let me down, I even had a an aldi pressure washer about 10 years ago around the spec of this one and lasted me 5 years , which is better than even high end ones I have had, which mine are getting used for a good few hours on each jobs and that was sometimes 5 times a week, so that’s way more time than an average person will use. Also remember that these tools normally have a 3 year warranty.
Well what can I say, the pressure washer works great and for just £119 is great value for money, so if looking for one I would recommend getting one. Though this is a the problem either if this is Ldl or Aldi when they have there middle isle sections is once they have gone that’s it and normally they only have a handful in stock, so if your not quick you will lose out and as both supermarkets tools are great value, but then you have people buying them to resell at a profit on the likes of ebay. As I was editing the video just 24hrs after purchasing mine there were 5 on ebay at between £160 to £200.
So if you are reading this way after the publishing date and Lidl or Aldi have an equivalent model in stock I would definitely recommend getting one as great value. I’m not sponsored by Lidl or Aldi and I brought this with my own money, well in a sense my business did, even though I am self employed. I got this as I like a bargain, so for me this came at the perfect time as my main pond cleaning works starts around now. I wouldn’t have realised these were on sale, as I don’t normally go into Lidle for my shopping as Aldi is closer. I only found out about this from their emails. So just a quick tip I would recommend signing up for the special buy emails from both Aldi & Lidl. Most of the time nothing of interest but like this one maybe something you want. I’m lucky as Aldi is close to me and a new Lidle has just opened up within 10 mins drive, But I do know that others may not be as lucky to have these types of super markets close by, or if you’re unlucky to have them close .
