I have been buying the fake lego type sets from the like of temu and aliexpress, The first one I bought was a Lamborghini technic type set, to watch the build and review on my YouTube channel click HERE, and as the quality of that was good and enjoyed the build I wanted something else for display on my office shelves and I had seen these retro electrical items, they were a boombox, walkman, computer (mac) and a colour tv.
All in the style from the 1980’s ie the era that I grew up in. They only cost a few pound each, they are normal Lego size brick as some that you can get the bricks are around 3/4 of the size, I have brought some sets again around retro this time camera’s and they are like that again to see the build and review of those click HERE for the video.
To see the full build of these retro items watch the video below, or read on for my thoughts on all of them.
The time to build each was between 30 mins to just over an hour depending on the model. Construction was ok, though there were a few bricks that were a bit loose when put together and on the computer the grey is slightly different on bricks of different sizes.
The boombox and the personal stereo (Walkman) have removable cassettes, though they are different sizes, the boom box has a movable handle and arial. The walkman has a set of headphones of the time, though this is where on the bendable parts they are a bit loose so comes undone, though nothing a little glue wouldn’t solve.
The TV is very basic box shape , there are the antenna on top and you do get a few sticks that can be put on the multi coloured screen
The computer is based around an apple mac , you have a keyboard and mouse through the pipes which are the cables come off easily and can’t be bent into the perfect shape for display. The one great thing with this module is the screen pulls out from the base and you have a detailed inside to emulate the computer motherboard, back of the crt tube etc. I really like this detail.
For me for display they are a great addition to my shelves, in this same range there is a games console based around the Nintendo entertainment system (nes) and also a typewriter at the time of ordered these they were out of stock so next time when ordered ing will get these as well, though I have brought total of 6 technic type car sets , so make sure you follow this blog or better still subscribe to my YouTube channel to make sure you get notified when I put the build and review video out.
