As regular readers will know I love to take photos of lego figures wherever I go, either at home or in trips I take in the campervan. Well for most of the photos I use the large torch or clock mini figures, well you can get the smaller 8cm keyring figures, which are great though for my use I don’t want the key chain on them I will explain how to remove them easily with just a pair of pliars. You can read ahead or see in video below from my YouTube channel, Blatent plug for the channel please like and subscribe for updates.
As I said you just need a pair of piliars, while holding the figure in your hand just grip the piliars around the bit that sticks out of the top of the figure, the bit with the loop on. There are several techniques that you can use I found the best ways is pulling slightly then move side to side and eventually the pin will come out. Sometimes It can snap but if that happens again use piliars to move and pull again.
The advantage of doing this is like most lego you can interchange parts. With these normally you can change the arms and hands of others in the range, and If you take the Keychain off you can then change the heads as well as any head gear they have on ie hair or hats etc.
The main reason I do it is when taking the photos don’t want the keyring or cahin part showing in the photo, I have several of these types and a good fair few of the larger ones, and if you new here why not have a look at some of the images I take with the Lego figures.
