While on holiday on the Isle of Wight we had to visit Godshill Model village, as I love visiting model villages. Godshill model village it tucked away on the high street of Godshill village (more on the main village later) Entry price is £4.75 Adults, £3.75 Children, £16.00 Family (2 adults, 3 children), your admission ticket is valid for seven day (ask on entry). “prices quoted are from the date of our visit please check official website for up to date pricing HERE
The model village is set in a large area and so much to see. The buildings are very highly detailed and represent both Godshill village and the near by village of Shanklin. There is a working railway, make sure you see what they are transporting. The large pond has the feel of a good seaside town with sunbathers and even people fishing. One little thing that I missed by the missus didn’t is a model of Santa on the wind turbine.

The church is absolute lovely and there is even a wedding going on, I love the photographer. In one of the field they are even archaeologists excavating a dinosaur skeleton. There is just so much to see I can list everything, you will have to see for yourself. Especially look at all of the figures as some of the expression are great.

The gardens are very well kept. I was speaking to one of the friendly staff that was sorting out some of the plants and he was telling me about how much work goes into the thatched roofs on a lot of the buildings. Which you can tell how much care and attention goes in to the up keep of this place.

In the the models there is also a model of the model village itself, which is lovely to look at. There are a good few vantage point to admire the whole village. There is a quiz sheet available for the kids, so they look out for different things around the site. There is so much to take in, I wouldn’t rush walking around as you may miss something.

I didn’t realise the ticket was valid for 7 days as would loved to have gone again while we was away for the week, As I love looking around model villages. I could have walked around again but my teenage daughter who isn’t into these kind of places was a bit bored and the missus likes them but again not really her thing. We did spend a good hour or so looking around.

Godshill Village is a lovely place to walk around as there are a good few gift shops. There is also a lovely sweet shop and if you are a drinker, some cider shops aswell. This is a very quaint village and lovely to spend a afternoon going into the different shops etc. There is a very large car park within the village, so not that far to walk at all. If you are visiting the Isle of Wight both the village and the model village is worth looking around.

Below are just some of the photos I had taken on our visit.
