We decided to take the dog for a walk around Hayhead Wood nature reserve in Aldridge. The nature reserve is off the A454 Aldridge Road and is set in 17 acres. The reserve has a mixture of woodland, wetland and grassland habitats. The now nature’s reserve was originally part of the hay head work which mined limestone, the pool on the site was originally part of the canal system but in the 1930’s was cut off from the main canal system.

There is a small car park for you to park, we had a nice little walk around for just over half an hour. Though the day that we went even though was warm it deep start to drizzle a bit then had a bit of heavy rain, so really we didn’t walk round fully.

A good few years ago did have a nice walk around the main pond, but for that visit there was a massive wasp nest in one of the tress and if you tried to carry on walking along that path they swarmed, so we didn’t go that far that time either.

So I will have to go for a walk again around Hayhead Woods as a nice place to walk around and very piece full even though really of a main road. Though below are some quick photos I took, they are not that great as first time using a new camera I had brought so hadn’t got used to the setting yet, but gives you an idea of the place.
