Full Blue Moon 2015

On the 31st July 2015 was supposedly a rare occurrence of a blue moon, we all hear the saying “Once in a blue moon” well first of all they are not that rare and occur about every 2.7 years. Also they are not blue in colour though the colour that we seen the moon can be change depending on conditions.

A blue moon is defined as any time there is a second full moon during a calendar month, While most years have 12 full moons, this year has 13.

Though all that being said was nice to see a full moon and we had pretty clear skies to see it. The day before were clearer skies so got some nice shots of the moon.

We also watched the moon get covered by a cloud. I put my tripod out and set my new camera on time laps which takes a picture every few seconds. When we all looked at the footage of the moon, it was only a few seconds long but we could see the cloud cover the moon in different places over the few minutes I set it for. which can be seen in part below. As you can see from some of the shots the cloud covered the moon with nice effect
