Ever since I was a young child, I have played with Lego, now as a middle aged man, I still like building the models and really who doesn’t like playing with Lego, you just cant go wrong with the simplicity and then the delight and satisfaction when you have built the model. Now im not a full Lego purist I do like other clone brands like creative building, mainly as I love Doctor Who and Character Options own the license for Dr Who merchandise. So I do have all the sets, thanks to the missus for getting me the last one I needed for Christmas 2014, I even did a photo blog of the adventure of the Doctor from these sets see HERE for details and HERE for details on the sets that I wrote about.

This year has given me a chance to built a lot of Lego models, this is due to a bad event that happened late last year in that my father passed away. One of his I would say Hobbies he had was to get loose Lego & sets from charity shops, carboots etc and then sell them on, in a sense was doing this to make a little extra money. So now he has passed my mom wants the Lego gone, Know I knew there was a lot, but when realised how much, I was amazed, as he had some in his office, loft and large shed. If you put it all together will fill a small box bedroom from top to bottom.

There are sets that he started to make up in boxes, he had wrote on some if they were missing pieces but, we are having to go through and check to see if the set is complete, some great sites to see full listing of parts and get instruction manuals are, www.peeron.com , lego.brickinstructions.com , www.brickset.com , also there is so much loose Lego it is unbelievable, He had sorted everything into colours then into containers.

So we now have the fun of sorting and building the sets, and then sorted just the bricks, parts etc ready for sale on ebay etc , to see our current ebay listings see HERE for details or visit our NEW on-line shop, click below to go straight to the Lego items we currently have for sale.

Back now to when I was a child, I had all different sets really to many to list here as was into the main Lego town range, also was a great fan of the space range and also loved the Technic range as this brought out the inner creator in myself, as loved to work out how things worked. Below are some of the fond ones that I remember from all those years ago.

Now i was really into the original Lego space range I do remember having several sets they included, the small little space crafts like Space shuttle (442), space scooter (885), the iconic space buggy (886), Mobile Rocket Launcher (462), I also had the one man space ship (918) and then was over joyed that then got the space transporter (924) this was a larger ship but in the same design as the smaller one man ship, as this one had opening cargo bay at the back that would fit in the space buggy.

As a kid I always wanted the larger space Cruiser and moon base (928), this was the largest of the classic spaceships with bigger cargo hold and came complete with little moon base, I unfortunately did get that set when I was a child but now as a forty something man have got that set in the sets that my father had, it was already built up and nearly complete with only a 5 pieces missing, it wasn’t in the greatest condition, but was perfect for me to reminisce back to my childhood, so of coarse had to quickly setup a space scene to get some photos of the set though the missus thought I was mad, but its something that had to be done, as just really took me back to those days of playing with the smaller ships in my bedroom and imagining what it would be like to have the larger Galaxy explorer spaceship , before it had to go for sale. See some of the quick unedited photos below:

I think these sets of the space ships are ones that define the classic Lego space range, with the grey and blue , and the yellow transparent windows and roofs. I’m glad this range hasn’t fully gone away and people new to Lego will still know what the original space range looked like thanks to the character in the Lego movie β€œBenny” A original space minifig in blue, and the character even has a split lower half of the helmet and we all know as kids playing with these sets and minifig that the helmet always used to break πŸ™‚

I wasn’t a fan of the newer space range in the late 80’s of the white range, though again sorting through the Lego had got the monorail system (6990) this wasn’t complete at all so didn’t really get change to test or put it together.
